Italy's Summer Hotspots

A country filled with historical sites, vibrant cities, stunning lakes and mountains, gorgeous beaches and exquisite cuisine, Italy has just about everything that makes a wonderful holiday or city break so it's no wonder thousands of Brits head there every year. There really is so much to explore and enjoy!
Also, home to an impressive 4,723 miles of coastline, you can be rest assured there is a lot worth checking out. But with so much on offer, we have decided to focus on a couple of phenomenal summer destinations, definitely worthy of a mention……
The Amalfi Coast
Most likely one of Italy’s most famous coasts, the Amalfi Coast, stretches a whole 40 kilometres and its plunging cliffs and lush landscape is what makes the Amalfi Coast so appealing. However, this does mean there is little room for long, wide beaches. They may be compact but there is no compromise on their appeal. Some of the smaller beaches are only accessible by boat, making them beautifully secluded and tranquil, perfect for some quality time with your loved ones. If you are looking for a bit more of a buzz, head to Marina Grande in Positano, one of the larger beaches on the Amalfi Coast. Here is where you will find the trendy and chic restaurants, bars and even a disco, popular with both holiday makers and locals.
For those looking to explore on a day trip, our top recommendation is to do a full day tour of the Amalfi Coast and the gorgeous towns its home to. They are all so unique with their own charm, giving you a real flavour for this southern region of Italy. You could even end your day in Sorrento where you can soak up the vibrant atmosphere in the busy square or surrounding cobbled streets, with restaurants and bars galore! For anyone wanting to know more on its history, take a half day trip to Pompeii, the ancient preserved Roman city, victim to a huge eruption of Mount Vesuvius all those years ago.
Top tip: Try and visit early on in the day to avoid the afternoon heat.
Tuscany
Tuscany is a region where rolling fields, olive groves and castles join to meet golden sands and dreamy seaside towns. A holiday to Tuscany can be one of the more stylish Italian breaks where jam-paced days or utter relaxation are both on offer.
Home to one of Italy’s most renowned wine regions, you can expect decadent wine tasting tours whilst on holiday here and food that simply won’t disappoint as the likes of Gordon Ramsey has in fact overseen menus here. You will be utterly spoilt for choice when it comes to traditional Italian cuisine in Tuscany.
For something a bit extra special, Maremma in the south has an extraordinary charm. With unspoilt and secluded beaches, isolated Medieval hilltop towns, an artistic atmosphere plus some of the best seafood in Tuscany, Maremma shows you a side that many will never get to experience. Whilst you’re here, don’t miss the Uccellina Nature Park. With 25 kilometres of stunning coastline, it boasts sandy beaches, soaring cliffs and pine forests, all of which can be explored on foot, bicycle, canoe or even by a donkey – an extra special treat for the kids!
